The Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention division at Niagara Region Public Health embarked on a project to increase knowledge, capacity and shift culture of staff to address the social determinants of health. This project was in part developed as a result of limited staff uptake of previously introduced health equity tools. Reported barriers to using the health equity tools included the lack of formal requirements/process to support using the tools and the lack of adequate training.  This workshop will guide you through taking a similar process and help you to identify and mitigate your local barriers to incorporating the 10 Promising Practices to Guide Local Public Health Practice to Reduce Social Inequities in Health.
